If you like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but that’s too dark for you, Daglicht fits the bill. An intriguing story is supported by believable performances and pacing that makes you forget to breathe.
Daglicht also reminded me of Chinatown to some degree, particularly the way the cinematographer created ambiance and how the writer sustained a strong sense of intrigue.
Although the entire cast was very talented and fully committed, Angela Schijf gave a sublime performance. I am guilty of checking out when a movie centered around one woman’s story gives the lead too much time on screen without a clear purpose. I’m sure good direction and editing play a crucial part in the presentation of Schijf’s character. However, she really brought “it”!
